The Honorable George Colville

Commodore 1935-1943

A founder member of the ISC, he was the son of Lord Colville of Culross who had been the Club's third Commodore.

In 1897 when Cowes Harbour Board Act was passed and received the Royal Assent, the Hon. George Colville became the first Harbour Commissioner to represent the YRA in the port. He was also a Younger Brother of Trinity House.

Aboard the 35 ton Sorceress, which was a gift from his father, he cruised extensively. Racing locally very successfully in two Solent One Design yachts, Mazurka and Moby Dick.

In September 1943 Commodore the Honourable George Colville, who had been in poor health for some time, died.
