Brian Poulter

Commodore 1983-1986

Brought up just across the water in Alverstoke, Brian was a member of Stokes Bay Sailing Club until he came to Cowes and joined the ISC in 1963. He then sailed in many of the Solent classes as well as other boats, including Admirals Cup participants, and for three years helmed Sir Max Aitken's Perseverance.

Whilst in office as Commodore Brian Poulter revived the Brambles Cricket Match. Originally instigated by Uffa Fox, this annual event, usually held in September when the tides are at their lowest, had been rather forsaken. Since restarted, this annual jolly against the Royal Southern YC has had a wood-carved seagull as its trophy.
