John Hibberd

Commodore 1992-1995

John Hibberd was a Devonian who had started his sailing on 5o5's on the Medway in the '60s. He came to the Island in 1976 and quickly graduated from the family Miracle and Caprice to local Sonata and Hunter 27 racing. After years of working as a chartered engineer on MoD contracts in weapon Research and Development on the mainland, the attraction of moving with his family to the Isle of Wight, and living and working in Cowes in the Plessey Radar program management team was irresistible.

John like many past Commodores served his time as Rear Commodore (Technical), Vice Commodore, And then Commodore.
