Frank Templeton Mew

Commodore 1919-1922

Not only was Frank Mew a founder member of the Club but was also a member of the first committee, and he was also the first Island inhabitant to be made Commodore. He was a member of the well-known family of brewers and his home was Polars, in Newport which became the home for the Island blind.

Frank Mew also belonged to the Royal Victoria YC and the Royal London. He owned a yacht Corral Launched in 1900. At the AGM, held on 26th May 1922, there were expressions of deep loss sustained by the Club on the death of the Commodore, Frank New.
